The Asahi Shimbun Company has just created a database of its English-language newspapers. You are able to perform a full-text search of articles published in the "The International Herald Tribune/The Asahi Shimbun (the IHT/Asahi)," and "AJW (Asia & Japan Watch)" dating back to April 2001.
Regarding included articles
Kikuzo Ⅱ English database contains full text database from 2001 to the present.
・IHT/Asahi Shimbun (2001.4〜2011.2) full text
・Asia & Japan Watch (2011.3〜Present) full text & photo/chart
※ Some AJW articles, such as "Vox Populi, Vox Dei"(天声人語), "Editorial" (社説), are available not only in English, but also in Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
※The database does not contain all of the articles published in print and digital forms in the past.
※Such materials as advertisements, stock and financial market information and weather forecasts are not included.
※Some articles are not included because of copyright or other reasons.
※With regard to articles originally published by The International Herald Tribune/ The Asahi Shimbun, the database contains only those produced by The Asahi Shimbun that appeared in the Asahi section of the newspaper.
For some periods, the number of articles is fewer than in others due to data-processing problems or other reasons. In addition, the articles in the database have been processed based on the original content produced for the print versions. The dates and length of some articles are different from the print versions. But the date discrepancies will be fixed sequentially.
About The IHT/Asahi
"The IHT/Asahi" (nicknamed "Heratori Asahi" when it first hit the streets of Japan) was later launched in April 2001 through a partnership between the International Herald Tribune and the Asahi Shimbun Company. The "Asahi section" of the IHT/Asahi, which is produced by the Asahi Shimbun Company, is included in "Kikuzo II Visual."
AJW (Asia & Japan Watch) is the Asahi Shimbun's English-language online news portal launched in March 2011. The website introduces the Asahi Shimbun's original articles and analyses of events happening in Japan and East Asia to the world.
AJW provides international readers with the kind of in-depth reporting that only The Asahi Shimbun can offer. They get reports and analyses on politics, economy, society, culture, sports, and coverage of what's happening locally as well as across Asia. AJW's look at "Cool Japan" covers topics like anime, manga, fashion, food, traditional culture, travel, and more. It also has a special section dedicated entirely to the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima nuclear accident.
